We went even harder on the adventure time today.
We hiked around the arboretum that’s up here and learned a lot about the different trees and other native plants. That was surprisingly awesome, actually. Pups loved the hike, and it was super shaded, which helped them.
Then we went down to lake arrowhead and…yeah. Not our place down there. At all. It is INSANELY built up. Holy shit. It’s not a big lake, and it is literally covered every inch of shoreline with docks and boats. And houses are stacked up on the hillsides surrounding the lake like four or five layers high…it’s insane. Way, way too packed and busy for our taste.
But, then we went back to the arboretum because it had a little picnic area, and we ate our lunch there.
Pit stop at the cabin before we then headed back out, this time towards Big Bear. The drive out there was maaaagiiccc. So pretty. It started sprinkling rain on our way out with the sun still shining. It was so gd pretty. And then when we got to Big Bear, it was so much more our speed. The lake is MUCH bigger, the town much more spread out…we got milkshakes and that was a little too much. The downtown area was PACKED with people. Impossible to social distance, and not everyone was wearing masks…but we figured it out and then drank them in the car as we drive around the whole lake.
Lots of cool stuff there, especially on the far side of the lake, opposite of the town and the resorts. A bike path, some cool campgrounds, and it was just so PRETTY.
Then came home and hung out by the campfire; roasted hot dogs and marshmallows, snuggled the pups, looked at the stars.
Great day.
Beat.
Night!
