Pretty sure we’re all going to wake up tomorrow with Biden being announced as the next president of the United States. And, with the runoff in Georgia, a shot at tying the senate with Kamala as the tie-breaker.
Turnout was the strongest in the US since the 1900 election, I think. Pretty astonishing. It goes to show that if there is disruption, people WILL get involved in politics. We have to.
Do I think if Hillary had been president that the COVID outbreak wouldn’t have happened? No. I’m not that naive. Even with the steps the Obama administration took to form a pandemic task force, we would have still be woefully under-prepared. The virus still would have spread in-contained, it would still have caused an economic disruption, and it would still have been a massive, massive wake-up call for how we need to be prepared for the next one.
But…at the very least, our president would not have called it a hoax, or otherwise taken absolutely no responsibility to LEAD our country through the crisis. And that would have saved tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of lives. And, a more coordinated response very certainly would have lessened the economic impact as well.
I cannot wait to never hear from Trump ever ever again. He’s the worst thing that’s happened to this country as long as I’ve been alive. He’s so instantly willing to tear apart the foundations of our democracy, just because he pathologically needs to win. Right now, he’s calling the election a hoax. And the only silver lining I can see—beyond, obviously, the ecstasy that he is going to lose—is that the rest of the GOP is abandoning him. They can’t wait to be rid of him, either.
That’s truly how you know.
He’s the worst.
Ever.
