I love technology. I got to spend some time today setting up a security system and I loved every minute of it. They’re so easy and advanced these days! It’s really so very much fun when it all sets up and works correctly. Very satisfying, indeed.
I wonder if that’s why I love technology so much: the order of it all. I’ve really discovered a lot about myself over the past couple years when it comes to have things organized and set up the way I want them to be. I’m definitely not super ordered in many, many things in my life, but I do have that tendency in many areas.
Work is one of them. I like to have things set up in advance, planned out, strategized.
Same with my writing, to a degree. There’s a certain amount of organization I need to have—both on the page in black and white, and in my head—before I can fall into a scene and let go of all that to create. The act of writing itself is very much the opposite of all that need to control, which is really what “organization” is, if we really get down to it…maybe that’s why writing is so important to me. It represents a balance between those two extremes, the control, and the letting go.
Today was a busy day, but a good day. I got the shit done I needed to.
Now. Time for sleep. G’night.
