Buzzing off watching Stephen Curry drop a career-high 62 points on the Blazers tonight. It was glorious. Insanity. His last shot of the night, in particular, was a circus shot.
He gets like that. He catches fire and just sinks everything. Shots (almost) nobody else makes. It’s a beautiful, inspiring thing to watch him play. The best shooter of all time, I think.
I want to set some intentions for the year.
I separated those out last year in the following three categories, and I want to do the same this year:
Health: both mind and body.
I did great on this over the last year. It was a breakthrough year, in fact. I worked out regularly all year, for the first time in my life. I want to maintain that habit: push-ups and sit-ups five days a week. I’d love to push the number up to 266, which was my goal for 2020, but I fell a bit short of (180). I also want to push in cardio this year in the form of riding my bike on a regular basis. Not sure exactly how that will look…thinking twice a week might work…but integrated into my routine somehow. I also want to add in leg and back workouts as well, in addition to the push-up and sit-ups. Again…not exactly sure what that will look like, but I’ll figure out a goal and see if I can reach it.
In terms of the mind, I will continue to see my therapist each week and working on my emotional life. I will also continue to take time throughout my weeks and especially on the weekend to take time for myself to do what I love doing, whatever that may be. In 2020, it really became playing music on the DJ controller. That was truly amazing. I’ll keep with that. And maybe this is the year I finally actually learn how to build, paint, and light models. We’ll see. Leaving the door open on that one; I didn’t plan on picking DJing back up, after all, and that was wonderful. Maybe it will be photography. Who knows.
Finances: we made some huge strides this year financially. Like…some major strides. My goal last year was to prepare to make the strides we took, and we did. Next, is being more disciplined with our money. I say “our” because it’s not just me; I mean Liz and me. We’re in it together. And we have new, more substantial financial obligations now, and we still want to save money. So, the reach this year will be to finally come up with that “budget” we’ve been trying to establish for so many years, now, and to stay within it. We’re meeting tomorrow to strategize on that.
Writing: I wasn’t super successful with my writing goals last year. This is one area where I haven’t yet managed to “level up” like I did with my health and my finances. So, that’s a focus this year. My intention with my writing in 2021 is to do exactly that: to level up. I don’t know exactly what that will look like, but I will know it when it happens. I’d love for it to be that I finish multiple books and start bringing in money…but it might now be that. It might still be laying the foundation for that. I want to be open to whatever form this “leveling up” takes. In the meantime…I intend to finish this Old Glory manuscript, and I intend to try and find myself either a mentor or a partner to write with/for. That’s a Q1 goal, I guess. Then, we’ll see what happens from there.
And… it kind of all starts tomorrow. My first day back from holiday hiatus.
Wish me luck.
