Man…I was just cleaning up (finally) after podcasting the other night with Josh and picking up our tracking sheet, the print-out that we did for the AFI’s top 100 list, and it’s a little mind-blowing that we’re just about to finish the damn thing.
100 movies.
Three years of our lives.
And it’s almost over. We’re *this* close to finishing. Eight movies left, I think. And it really is a testament to where persistence and joy intersect each other. We wouldn’t be where we are without both of those things. And the combination of the two has taken us SO FAR. Pretty amazing.
It’s definitely going to be interesting to see how the podcast evolves once we pass our first goal. Honestly…I think it’s going to stay pretty much exactly the same. That’s what happened with Two Guys One Trek. Just like with Film School, we started thinking about “what next?” weeellll before we finished watching the last episode of the Original Series. We already had the “next” lined up, in fact. We watched the Animated Series.
For Film School, at first, it’s just going to be a list of personal films we want to watch together and break down. That’s going to amazing, honestly. I can’t wait. After that? Not sure yet, but we have several strong contenders for ideas: pick a genre and do a deep dive, pick a studio, or pick a director and do their entire filmography, pick a film series (like the Marvel Cinematic Universe) and watch the whole series…
The possibilities are already too numerous to even fit into a lifetime, probably.
But, that’s kind of what’s exciting about it.
Night. Have to work my ass off tomorrow.
