It’s so funny how as soon as you get really deep into a project, that’s when ideas for other, new projects come to mind. Shiny little distractions.
I think I know what I want to write whenever this current military sci-fi book series has run its course, or at least has enough books in it to slow down a bit and entertain other ideas…
I thought of this term the other day, and I don’t think I’ve heard it anywhere else before, but it PERFECTLY captures everything I love about the SciFi I most often read (though, I do, truly read far and wide)…which is Star Trek, let’s be honest here.
Cozy SciFi.
It’s exciting! There’s danger, battles, fights, maybe even wars…but it’s not too dark, it’s optimistic, sweet, dare I say a bit wholesome. Just like other “cozy” genres, it’s fiction that makes us feel good.
I want to write a cozy scifi series next. Maybe. I dunno. It’s an idea. Well…not even an IDEA yet, since I have no idea what the actual setting, plot or characters would be.
I don’t want to write Star Trek, actually. I tried it a couple years ago and didn’t like it! I was so surprised! I know. I like writing my own characters, even though I know the Trek ones so intimately. Maybe that will change some day. I definitely dreamed of writing Star Trek when I was a young lad. That was THE dream. But, now…for now…I like writing in my own sandbox.
That’s all I got for you tonight. Hope you’re doing well!
Night night.
Not sure it is an identified genre, Ira. I have not seen it. I really like the idea!
