It’s almost 3:30 right now as I right this.
Coco…suddenly was in acute pain tonight, right as we were getting ready for bed. Shivering. Hardly able to move. She would yelp whenever I would pick her up. I knew something was wrong.
I took her to the ER and the doc says it’s likely that she has IVDD, which essentially means that her spinal discs are degenerating, and one is causing an impingement on her spinal cord. To what degree, we don’t know for sure because the doctor didn’t think it was necessary to do an MRI given Coco’s current state.
They did an X-Ray. No obvious signs of IVDD. Her blood panel came back fine. And she’d actually improved slightly since when I first brought her in.
She never lost mobility. All her limbs are strong. Whatever it is, it’s not a severe case. So, they sent me home with some pain meds and a muscle relaxant. I just gave those to her, and she’s nestled in bed, now, laying down and falling asleep. She wasn’t able to do that just a few hours ago, so this is improvement.
Poor baby girl.
Hopefully, she just tweaked her back, and all she needs is to let it heal for a day or two and she’ll be back to normal. We’re definitely not going to let her be as rambunctious getting off the bed or going down stairs. Not any more. But, hopefully otherwise, she gets back to normal.
Any positive thoughts you can spare would be lovely.
Night night.
