The book is done. Like, DONE done.
I finished my “soup to nuts” rewrite/edit pass, as my co-writer would call it. I tweaked a lot of stuff. Filled in gaps. Made sure it was consistent. Made sense. I tightened some scenes that weren’t working as well as I knew they could. Even changed the background of a character and the way they talked.
It was exhausting, to be completely honest, and I’m sitting here terrified that I missed stuff…which I most certainly did. Hopefully none of it is too horrendous. It’s off to beta readers to see if they like it. That’s the first real gauntlet. I think they will. Truly.
I’m really proud of this book. I was so nervous about it going into this edit/rewrite, and I still am nervous about everything I’ve already mentioned, but I was so pleasantly surprised to read through this book and see everything that was working. I think it’s probably my best work yet. It’s definitely the most structured.
I’ve learned so much about storytelling in the time that it took me to write and publish Starstuff to the time that it’s taken me to write Glory. It’s kinda crazy to think about how much I’ve learned. I poured all of that into this new book. It’s not perfect, but it’s in there.
Anyway…it’s past bed time. Not super crazy late, thank lord, but late. Time for sleep.
Here’s to milestones.
