Man. Today was a monumental day.
First of all, MASSIVE massive congrats to my bud, my best friend, my ride or die Joshua “This Muthafucka” McClenney. His debut feature film is now available on Amazon for rental or purchase. It’s called Monroe. Just search for that title in your Prime Video app, and it will come right up. First search result. It’s an art-house noir thriller about a contract killer with MAJOR insomnia who meets somebody and starts—maybe—to lose his mind. Black and white. Written, directed and starring Josh. It’s dope. Check it out.
Secondly: Wardell. Stephen. Curry. He just led the Warriors to a fourth championship. Draymond was right all the way back in 2018, when all the controversy was about Kevin Durant maybe leaving the Warriors (which he did): Go. We don’t need you. We don’t. We just proved that. Steph also got Finals MVP, which he deserved back in 2016, and probably in 2018 as well.I
mean…this win, you guys. It meant so much. Soooo much. Lotta haters out there kicking the Warriors when they were down the last two years. It wasn’t a sure thing by ANY stretch that Klay was ever going to even play basketball again, let alone chip in to win a championship.
I’m soooo looking forward to seeing him fully back in shape and rhythm next year. And the steps forward all our young players take. We should be even better next year than this year. But goddamn. This win silences a lot of bullshit. A LOT of it. It shows all that stuff for what it really is: petty jealousy. Straight up.
Writing was a battle today…but I did it! And I really mean that. I got some shit figured out. Still more to do, and I have a few days left this week to get this Act 3 finished. I was proud of myself. I was WIPED this morning. Just wiped. Will be tomorrow, too, probably…but I hope to get a little more rest tomorrow and Saturday. Three day weekend coming up, too!
Netflix work settled down today. Looked like I might struggle to get some stuff I needed, but then there it was. Right when and where I needed it. Whew. Busy day tomorrow, for sure. And next week will be busy, too. But…busy is good.
And last, but certainly not least, we podcasted tonight. Watched Forbidden Planet, which Josh *instantly* recognized is literally where Gene Roddenberry got ALL his ideas for Star Trek. Like…his show is almost a direct rip off of Forbidden Planet. It’s crazy. Such a good movie, too. It’s old. Some of it doesn’t age super duper well…but overall it holds up! Truly. Great to podcast about it, too. Chat it out.
An epic, monumental, great day today.
Night night.
