Amazing day today.
Ooohhhohoohohhhooo did resistance try to stop me today. SO many times. But I pushed through. Book had to be sent back today to my co-writer. Had to. Proofreaders are waiting for it. We have a pre-order up that almost 500 people are waiting for. Can’t be changed. Book has to be done.
So. I sucked it up. I pushed through and fixed some things. SO MANY THINGS. And there’s still stuff to be fixed. I didn’t quite make it through all 17 of my pages of notes, BUT…I still have one last small sliver of time I can slip through a bit more work. And so I’ll use it. I’ll keep working on the damn thing until I have to let it go…which is Tuesday. That’s when it uploads to Amazon.
It’s not really that this book was a mess so much as it was just complicated. I took a few big swings with this one, bigger swings even than the first book. Some of those swings were misses—as happens with every book, to be honest, even the first one—so some of the cleanup is just dialing back those big swings so they’re not a whiff anymore. But some of those swings were home runs. And goddamn if that doesn’t make it all worthwhile.
Still work to be done. I wanted to write ‘the end’ on the book tonight for REAL…but I’m in the home stretch. Just need to keep pushing a liiiiittle bit longer.
