Joy is my little companion, now. We’re super duper bonded. My little shadow. She’s often asking now to be up on my lap, where she lets out a big sigh and falls asleep. Even Coco wouldn’t ASK to be on my lap. Not really, anyway. She’d look at me sometimes with big eyes, and I knew that meant she wanted to be picked up, but Joy outright will jump in my lap, even if I place her somewhere else beside me. It’s probably not the best behavior to reward, especially considering she’s a little insecure and fearful of anything outside of her normal routine BUT…it’s exactly what I need. Coco was my cuddle buddy, and I really, really needed to find those cuddles again.
She’s such a chewer, too. She chews chews chews. She’s gotten really good at knowing what she’s allowed to chew on and what she isn’t—she’s remarkably good at that in every context, actually, except for pawing at the laundry room door to get in there. Overall, she’s just a very sweet, very snuggly, very good girl and I love her with all my heart.
It was Scott’s Birthday today. We haven’t spent his birthday together in a loooong while, which is a CRIME I tell ya, because I love him so much and we have so much fun together! Well…we rectified that today. We all went wine tasting, Joy included (in the car, not drinking wine, obvs), in the Dundee Hills area of the Willamette valley. Good Pinot there. We’d planned to hit up four wineries. We made it to two, lol. At the second spot, especially, the pours were LARGE and we were drinking, not spitting. Had a grand old time. Had some legitimately delicious wines. One, in fact, I can still taste on my tongue—hazel nut. A port-style dessert wine. Good lord it’s delicious. So much fun drinking everything trying to describe what it tasted like. Neither of us have much vocabulary when it comes to that, really, but we tried our best. And there were definitely some standouts. Scott and Addie went home with a bunch of bottles. No wine club memberships, but a nice haul nonetheless.
Had cake at home. Opened presents. He got an apple watch from Addie. And now Joy is chewing furiously on her yak cheese chew that I brought on the trip for her. Sweet chewy baby.
To bed early! I’m looking forward to a nice long snooze before the long trip back home. Night night.
