I was surprisingly active today. Sigh. In a good way! The sigh is for tiredness. And soreness.
So, I did really good last year with yoga. Like…five months of it, I think? So, when you average that out, almost every other day for an entire year. Nuts. I’m going to continue and improve on that this year. It’s just so good for my body. BUT…no real cardio. Not doing my heart enough. So, the idea came from our France trip to bicycle more.
I’ve wanted to since I got my bike for Christmas a couple years ago. I just haven’t done it with any sort of regularity or consistency. It’s mostly just sat there. Well, I aim to improve on that this year. And if I’m going to ride once or twice a week, it starts on the weekends, yo. THAT’S the time I have available, at least during these winter months where the sun goes down before the workday is even over. Has to be on the weekends.
SO – I rode today. It was the perfect weather. I have a new book to listen to (the second Name of the Wind book; so good already!). My airpods pro’s are dying, unfortunately—can barely hold a charge and now they have this horrible static coming from the exterior microphone pickups, sigh—but they worked enough to let me listen for an hour on the ride, which was as long as I wanted it to be. It was perfect, too, because Liz went to pilates and I went out on a ride. GORGEOUS day. I was worried at first I might actually be a little cold, but sure enough, I warmed right up about fifteen minutes in. It was perfect. I can really enjoy that. Longer rides at some point, for sure. Today was just an hour.
And then we cleaned a bit together. I started a nice deep clean of the fridge. She did some laundry and vacuuming. And then we went outside and talked through plans on what to do with our front yard. Set up a bit of a plan on a makeover. A DIY makeover—very simple, very cheap, just to hold us over until we can afford to do a full re-do, ACTUALLY make the front yard we want. That’s a ways off. This will take care of it for now.
After that, I had the energy to go back out and actually get started on it. Our sidewalk was getting overgrown, kind of impeding into the walking area, so I yanked all that stuff out and cleaned up the sidewalk. Looks…SO MUCH better.
We walked the pups together, and then walked over to one of the several sidewalk taco stands on the main street in our neighborhood. We’ve seen them there every weekend for the entire time that we’ve lived in this area, but never went and tried them out. DE-fucking-LICIOUS. For real, tho. So good. And so easy, and inexpensive. It was a massive success, fun, cute little date, and we loved it.
Came home after that and watched the rest of the Hard Knocks Dolphins in-season that caught us up to real-time…and then gritted our teeth, knuckled down, and did yoga together. Reeaallyyy didn’t want to do yoga with such a full belly, and I was already tired, but godammit I always feel better after doing it, and I don’t want to fall a day behind, neither does Bear, so, we did it. And I’m so glad we did. It was a great session.
Now, here I am absolutely bushwhacked. And apparently chatty, given how long this entry is. Sleep, now. And more rest tomorrow. That’s the plan. A nap tomorrow. Offset the busy, busy day today was.
Night night. Gonna go read. My Trek book FINALLY got good last night.
