I did a couple things today that I’ve—inexplicably beyond just…ADHD or something like it—been putting off for a LONG time. Like, two years, I think it’s been since I got these things and have been meaning to put them up.

Well, a couple nights ago, someone was prowling around my car parked out in our front yard. We know because they dropped an iPhone there. Random, I know. I think they were probably high. Maybe even un-housed. Anyway…it just reminded Liz and I that we have security cameras that will integrate with our whole home system—they’re even solar powered so they never run out of juice, nor do they need to be plugged in—…and I just haven’t put them up. Pretty sure I bought them in 2022.

Sigh.

I put them up today. They work great! I just checked on them, in fact. Working like a charm. They have a fancy setting to ignore motion from certain portions of the picture, like the street, so those don’t turn the recording on. Very happy.

We ALSO got this device that will monitor our water usage to make sure there aren’t any leaks and that we’re not over-using water called a Flume, and again: had that for almost two years now, I think, and just never installed it. It was a little more of a pain than the cameras because our access hole is really poorly placed, with the meter butted ALL the way up against one of the side walls, and the entire thing was filled in with dirt as well for some reason…so that took some doing.

I was really nervous to dig around the water main…so I didn’t! I used a water hose and some pressure to blast away as much as I could, and then the rest just became mud, which I could pretty much scoop out with my hands. That worked. I got the meter and the pipes exposed, and then attached the Flume device. It wasn’t perfect. Because of how the access hole is, I couldn’t attach it the way it’s supposed to be in the example photos…but I tried it anyway, and it worked! It’s working right now, too. We used 33 gallons of water today. I don’t know if that’s good or bad…but the most important thing is that we’re currently using 0 gallons per minute, which is EXCELLENT…because we’re in bed, and nothing is running. So we don’t have a leak 🙂

That stuff took a lot longer and a lot more effort than I anticipated it would…but I am SO GLAD it’s done. And I still got to take a nice nap, got the podcasting episode up for Monday in addition to putting in my work hours. Walked the pups. Ate dinner with Bear, and then helped her with an audition.

A good Sunday. REALLY good.

Night night.
