The book is done. Off to my co-writer, who will send it off to our editor for a nice, good polish. Whew! Feels good. This is the earliest in the year I’ve ever finished a book. I like that. I want to beat it next year by a lot. Wish me luck!
We leave tomorrow to go up and see Scaddie and Cal. Oh, can’t wait. It’s going to be so nice to visit. Decently long trip up there, too, four days. Three without travel, but still. Our trip back down on Monday isn’t until the evening. Gonna miss the dogs, obviously. We almost took them over to Stephen and Thida’s tonight, but I’m glad we didn’t. We don’t fly out until the evening tomorrow.
Liz and I watched Civil War. It was…fine. It did some stuff really well, and other stuff not so well. I think my biggest critique of it was that it didn’t grab me other than one scene. The rest was…it’s hard to put my finger on it except to say that I always knew what was going to happen before it happened, so I was never on the edge of my seat. It didn’t do anything stupid. Quite the opposite, it was a very smart movie. You know what it reminds me of, actually, was Don’t Look Up. VERY smart, actually. It’s not a dumb movie…but there was just something missing, man. The spark wasn’t there. It didn’t suck me in, and I needed the movie to be visceral. I wanted it to tap into the very deep and dangerous fears that I have about our country actually going to war with itself. It didn’t do that. So…I thought it was fine.
Pups are bedded down. Joy between my legs and Coops down at the end of the bed on his blanket. Sweet babes.
Night night.
