Contented sigh. Today was a good day. Whew! Not to say the days haven’t been good lately. The opposite: they’ve been great. I guess I mean today was a good work day. I finally, FINALLY got some stuff done I’d tried to do last week and just failed miserably at. Did it today. Got up, did my writing. Intimidated by the amount of work I have to do for my next couple books, but I also know it will be a lot less intimidating if I just get my ass in there and start working. Got some Netflix work done that needed to be done. AND I got the podcasting editing done today that I really needed to. I can catch up at this rate by the end of the week.

Oh, man, I also took a really solid nap today. An hour. Passed out, big time, which is the kind of nap I’ve been tryyyinnnggg to get for the past couple weeks and failing at. The key this time? Taking off my watch, so no notifications. Right time of day. Early enough to take an hour nap but not ruin my evening.

And then we ended the day watching Grand Designs together, which just makes me so very happy. Love that show. Last one we watched was a McMansion that was supposed to gothic but ended up just looking tacky. I was convinced that the long-term story on the house would be disastrous because it was right before the mortgage crisis and they’d done the entire thing on credit…but there were no updates when I went googling. Hopefully that means they survived that catastrophe. Still not a fan of their build, however.

Liz and I—genuinely—learned so much from that show. About how important project managers are. How things will always take twice as long as you expect, and cost twice as much, so have those cash reserves ready. And there will always be unexpected things that come up, especially if you’re renovating instead of doing a new build. Generally, about how much a project like your home will just take everything you have to give it. It’s always an intense experience, even in the best of circumstances. I’m grateful to have watched it and learned those things going into our remodel we did on our home. The right expectations helped us a lot.

And now we live in our house! We love it, too. Absolutely love it.

Night night.
