What’s my favorite movie?

Liz actually asked me this question a day or two ago; the WordPress question of the day didn’t update from the previous one, so why not? I’ll give a stab at it. Thanks, bear!

My stab at it is that I have several favorite movies. I don’t know if I could pick just one. The first one the comes to mind, however, is always Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and it’s because it blew me away when I was a kid. It scared me at first. And it wasn’t even my first Trek movie. That was the fourth movie, The Voyage Home which released when I was around four. That’s the one with the whales. I didn’t see TWOK (as we trek diehards like to refer to it) until I was a little older, and it was SUPER stressful to watch…but I appreciated it to the point of obsession by the time I was a pre-teen.

Truly, though, I have so many other movies that could qualify as favorites for me, most of them “genre” films in Scifi and Fantasy. Tron, Sky Captain, LoTR, Star Wars, Field of Dreams, Kung Fu Panda, the Pixar renaissance, The Thing, Alien, Hereditary…and this is nowhere close to comprehensive. 2001, Solaris…North by Northwest…if a movie blows me away and makes me feel something deeply, it makes the list. It’s kind of as simple as that. “Favorite” is not something I think I really have. TWOK, even, was only my absolute favorite movie for a period of time in my life, not forever. Oh! The Neverending Story; major, major one for me. The animated Robin Hood. Bedknobs and Broomsticks. I could go on.

Had a wonderful, exhausting day with Ashika, Aavya, Joe and Madhuri. Just wonderful. They seem to be in a good place right now. Took some walks together. Ate food. Drank a little bit of wine. Talked late into the night. Played charades. Hung outside and enjoyed the nice, cool day.

A great, great day.

Night night.
