What technology would I be better off without, and why?

Social media. Because it’s a net-negative. A timely question, this, because I’ve been thinking about it ever since the election. For all of social media’s benefits—and there are, objectively, so many! I’ve been addicted to social media, in fact, to varying degrees, for the past, like, fifteen years of my life…in the end, I do think its negatives outweigh them. I think it’s made our society worse, not better. We’re more divided, less-informed, and less happy. I think social media needs to be abandoned. It’s not a platform thing, or a moderating issue…it’s fundamentally broken, it can’t be saved, and we should let it die.

Good luck with that, I know, but I deeply believe it to be true. And I don’t intent to stick around on social media for that much longer. We’ll see how that goes, even I don’t know how it will look, but I’m out. In some manner or form, I’m done. I’ve seen enough.

Spent some quality time today with my father in law, Lin. We went to the train store, he bought an engine there, and then we went to the auto book store and he bought a book and some magazines. Successful trip! We ordered me some new shoes. Watched a little qualifying for the F1 sprint race, I took a nap, and then we went and had an early dinner over at a Beard Award-winning Thai restaurant in the valley and it was sooooo goooooood. Their wine list was pretty legit. We got some champagne to start with, and then a reisling which I can literally still taste sitting here in bed. That’s when you know a wine is good! When it lingers like that. Dinner was legit amazing. One of the best meals we’ve had in a while. We got ice cream after that, and then came home to put up our christmas tree and watch the finale of GBBO.

A rather perfect day, actually. Oh! Forgot to mention: I got the white painting done in the dining room. Now it’s just the ceiling. Will tackle that tomorrow. Night night!
