Happy New Year!
It’s not midnight yet here on the west coast, but I’m going to bed, lol, so it’s an early well-wishes from me. I’m getting up on time tomorrow—a harbinger of the year I want, if you will. Kinda. Mostly, I just want the routine as quickly as I can get it. I’m happiest that way. Also, I get to watch a Wrexham game, so that’s a nice little carrot dangling for me.
Joy hauled us into the ER today. Liz was putting Teak Oil onto our vanity in the main bathroom to protect it and whatnot. She’d finished applying it and went to the kitchen to get some water or something like that, gone maybe two or three minutes…and when she came back, Joy was going to town licking the vanity. She didn’t really ingest much, it’s not like she was drinking the stuff, thank god, but it was enough to make her sick. She threw up a few times while we were trying to figure out what to do with poison control on the phone, and they advised we get her in to see a doctor and get nausea meds so she doesn’t, like, aspirate her vomit or something. Thankfully it wasn’t too crazy there and we were in and out in about two and half hours…but it was an adventure, to be sure.
First time we’ve had to take Joy in for something like that. Sigh. Thankfully nothing serious. Poison control, even before we went in assured us that she should be fine, they were worried about toxicity or anything from such a small amount as she’d have been able to lick off the wood, but STILL. Nerve-wracking. Such a little shit, she is sometimes, eating everything. But I’m glad she’s okay.
Didn’t have much in us after that. We walked the pups, I took the Christmas tree down…and that was about it. We had some champagne together, watched a little TV together, and now we’re calling it a night. Liz is out in the living room playing on the piano, which makes me happy; that was one of the things she wanted to do today and she’s doing it.
Me? I want to go to bed on time and get up on time. So in that spirit, happy new year, cheers to the old one, and see you on the other side. Night night.
