So, LA burned today. We’re very lucky in that none of those flames threatened our home, but they certainly threatened—and in some cases destroyed—many, many others, particularly those in the hills all over the southland. Several friends have had to evacuate their neighborhoods. We almost hosted the Kings today, but they opted for another location…for now. Still might come and stay here. But, yeah. Nobody we know directly has lost their house yet, but the fires are still burning.

I’m optimistic, though, for one straightforward reason: the winds have finally died down. That should hopefully give the fire fighters the edge they need to contain these blazes.

Wild. That wind storm was something else. Like nothing I’ve ever seen before down here. And DRY. Dry dry dry, hence the perfect conditions for fire problems. Ooof.

But, yeah. Thankful to be safe here where we are, and with very, very minimal issues from the storm. Our fence fell over. That was about it.

Got my work done. Got the outline such as it is off to my cowriter. Packed. Tomorrow…we fly for Hawaii. Night night.
