Joy news update: she got groomed today so she is EXTRA cute…and exactly as we were praising her for being such a sweet pup (she went and told Liz in her office that it was time to close up shop and go to bed)…she ate some random piece of trash off the floor. Like a piece of lint or something. That’s the Joy news that’s fit to report!

I did it today. I made my post about leaving social media, and then I did it. I deleted all the apps from my phone and ipad. I did make sure that I can log into them on my computer, but that’s the new barrier to entry. Not in my pocket. Not while I writing. Eventually, I want to get to the point where I literally only log on to check messages or notifications once a week.

So…yeah. If you saw that post or read my write-up, I guess I didn’t say specifically what my plan is for the “mostly” part of “leaving social media (mostly),” and that’s because I want that post to be evergreen, I guess. My plans may change. For right now: I’m an author, so there are literally a couple platforms I have to keep around for advertising and communication purposes. And for keeping in touch with the people I love (that’s you), I will still check my messages and notifications. But I do aim for that to only be periodically. Like…once a week would be dope. We’ll see. In the meantime, all my posts here on my blog/journal will still aggregate over there. So the feeds will stay active.

It’s going to be hard. I’m going to find out just how much I really leaned on social media to give my brain the dopamine hits. I think I’ll probably have actual withdrawals. But…I am committed. And I meant every word of my “why I’m leaving” post. Social media is not a place for me anymore. It’s probably not a place for any of us.

The writing today was…a grind. I’m still getting into the groove after being away. But I was up on time. Back at it tomorrow, too. Which always makes me look up at the time. It’s late. Time for sleep.

Oh! I got to watch Wrexham play today. They tied with Birmingham, who are the best team in the league. Should have been a win…but it’s better than a loss.

Night night.
