What do I enjoy doing most in my leisure time?

I’d have to say…watching TV. Good LORD do I love watching TV. Always have. Always will. What I watch definitely depends. My absolute top favorite? Probably live sports. Loooooove watching live sports, followed quickly in second place by recorded sports that I don’t already know the outcome of. And then I love both narrative TV & Film, and documentary.

In fact, I did a decent amount of that today. I did a re-watch of the film that got me started on my extreme sports binge, Everest, which is about the 1996 disaster that saw eight people die up there in a single day (or two). Horrifying movie in the best way. Really got under my skin. And after watching it again, I can see why. It’s very well done. AND THEN…I watched most of the Warriors-Lakers game from tonight. We lost. But there you go. That’s what I did for about four hours of leisure time today.

I don’t always watch TV—I like to read, sometimes I play video games, sometimes I ride my bike and listen to audiobooks, sometimes I work on my frivolous projects like the spreadsheet of wine that I’m building for reference about what to go buy, sometimes I help Liz out with stuff, or we go out and get food. But mostly, for the both of us: we looooove watching TV.

———

Wiped. I was up early today to go and help Joe and Madhuri with childcare. Ashi is looking at schools for when they move back down here, and they couldn’t take Aavya with them to do that, so they needed someone to watch her while they were away. Liz was able to help out yesterday, and I was able to help today. It went great! Aavy didn’t even cry when they left. She was active, but not fussy. We had a great time reading, and eating, and playing with blocks, and balls, and crawling and working on our walking. It was a good time. Exhausting, though. Kids, truly, are the most exhausting thing humans ever invented.

Came home. Ate some food. Watched some TV. We walked the pups together. Watched some more TV, and here we are.

It’s raining outside. Our first real rain since…May? April? It’s been a loooooong time. It’s drizzled or misted a couple times in that span, but no real rain, which is why the wildfires of the past couple weeks got so bad. It’s just bone dry here. Well, not today. Today, it poured. Tonight, actually. It’s a cliche here in LA to say “we really needed this” whenever it rains…but truly: we needed this. Not just to get some moisture in the ground and in the hillsides, but also the AIR. All that shit from the fires has just been blowing around, and this rain finally knocks all that shit down and lets it flow out into the ocean. Liz and I have been masking this whole time whenever we’ve been outside, and now we should be finally good to not do that and let the dogs go on a full walk. We’ve been taking them on super short walks and limiting their time outside. So…that’s a relief.

Anyway…chatty here in the entry I guess, but WIPED. Night night.
