What is my favorite drink?
You know…I don’t know that I’ve ever had one. I have several that I like and will order with regularity, but I don’t know if I actually have a favorite.
I’ve always liked blonde ales, heffs, cocktails with citrus fruit in them—love me something with punchy acid and sweetness mixed together—and I’ve definitely discovered several wines that I love over the past couple years of diving into the deep end of that ocean.
So…maybe wine? It just feels too broad to say that, though, “wine.” I don’t know that I have a favorite wine yet, you know?
We had a good one tonight. A Barbaresco. It was medium-light, great freshness, and light oaky spices plus—my favorite—some delicious hints of earthy flavors. Reminded me a lot of red burgundy, actually. The smell was mushroomy and it had those tongue-drying tannins in it. I’m not sure there was anything delicious about it, but Josh pointed out the most important thing in that regard: it was a wine made for food. I agree. I want to try it again with some Italian food. I bet those tannins will merry with meat, cheese and carbs like butter on toast, and that will enhance all those other light flavors into deliciousness. It was an affordable one, too! From my list. Very exciting 🙂
We podcasted. The movie was surprisingly good!
Coops’ vision is fine in his blue eye. I tested him again and he could totally see out of it. So…I overreacted last night, lol. No call to the doc necessary. Oof.
Writing was great this morning! Genuinely. I toughed it out. Got up on time, too. Sigh. A relief, that. Both the getting up and the writing session being a good one. It’s been a WEEK. But I do got this. Just gotta keep going.
Now…sleep. Night night.
