Probably my biggest “celebrity” sighting/encounter/whatever tonight. Our friends Stephan and Thida have wanted to go to Anajak Thai with us ever since we went there a few months ago with Liz’s dad and raved about it. Well, today they needed a place to hang while their house got fumigated, so it was the perfect opportunity.
Obama was eating there tonight. Same time as us. He was inside at the last table back towards the kitchen (and the bathroom, which is why I walked past him), we were sitting just outside. Everyone applauded once he left, at least outside. There was a motorcade. Liz cried. It was intense.
He was such a decent person in the oval office. He really cared about us. Just look at the legislation he championed. Like the consumer protections bureau, or the banking laws he got passed, or shit—just healthcare. The fact that insurance companies can’t exclude you for preexisting conditions. That shit. I miss him. I miss how he made this entire country feel like we were making progress, and life was getting better rather than worse. It was emotional to see him.
And the food. My god. So. Good. We ate a ton. Thida said it was a top 10 place for her in LA, which is hiiiigh praise. It is for me, too.
Buzzin. Night night.
