If I could be a character from a book or a film, who would I be?
My childhood answer was an easy one: I’d be a Starfleet officer on Picard’s Enterprise. The D. From the show. Never really fell in love with the next one, the E, from the films.
These days? Yeah…honestly, probably the same. Especially in these times with live in, with so many examples of terrible leadership. I’d ship with Picard, please and thank you.
The future Star Trek presents is audacious. I never appreciated that as a child. I genuinely took it for granted that was the future we were all working toward. I had no idea that it was so…optimistic. Exceedingly so, almost to the point of foolhardiness, even, to saccharine and maybe even childish. We will never BE Star Trek. Not all of us, anyway. And never forever. But some of us might, for a little while. Pockets of that sort of audacious acceptance, optimism and excellence. And I think that’s enough. I think it’s important to remember that is possible. It happens all around us, today, and that’s how I know it will continue.

Work was gentle, thank goodness. No fever today, I don’t think. It’ll just be this cough tonight, which was a beast last night, but that I finally got control of with the right combo of meds, and then had a good night’s sleep after that.
Ready to be well. Not there yet. Night night.
