List three books that have had an impact on me.

Resisting the urge to make a joke and say the bible. Honestly, the first one that came to mind, because it was recent, was the Dan Simmons series of essays on Writing Well. Massively influenced by that, which essentially boiled down to: if you want to write, you must read.

The next one that comes to mind, also because it was recent, is the Kermit Lynch book, Adventures on the Wine Route. It got me into wine. I mean, truly, it was Jay Mcinerney’s The Juice that turned me onto reading wine writers…but Lynch’s book was the one that really stuck with me. I’ve made an entire spreadsheet of wines I want to try because I got so into reading those wine books. I plan to read more of them! That list is nice and long right now, though, and I have a “starting place” of wines to look for that will last me literal years.

And just because I was thinking about them a few minutes, ago, the very first series of books that made me a rabid reader, all the way back at nine or ten years old: The Hardy Boys. My god, I loved those books. So much so that I read every single one of them. The original series of them, anyway. Took me years. Felt like a lifetime, in the best way.

Not a super productive day, but it wasn’t a zero either. Really close to that. I was sitting in my chair for the morning session with absolutely nothing in the tank…but I stayed there long enough to bust through, got some good pages down. The good news? I feel much more normal tonight. Gonna get a real nice good night’s sleep, and crank out 12 pages tomorrow. Looking forward to it, too!

Netflix work was busy. Worked my butt off today. I’m wiped.

Night night.
