We watched a really cool episode of Grand Designs tonight that was about a lifeboat house—one of those ones built right on the beach with the launch ramp attached so the boat can be deployed at any time, like, from the Coast Guard—that this older couple was converting into a house. Didn’t agree with all their choices, and I don’t think I’d ever choose to live literally out on top of the water like that…but it was really well done. So ambitious. And the building itself was just over 100 years old. Very cool.
That’s one of my all-time shows, Grand Designs. It’s the best. We figured out a way a couple years ago to watch every episode, every season. We’re still all the way back in 2011. But making progress. We go through periods where we watch the show a lot for a while. We’re in one right now. It was spurred on by me, really; I wanted something cozy. And something I knew would be great. Plus, we love watching all the British commercials that play during it.
Work was blessedly spaced out today, and pretty light. I was able to go and get my hair cut without missing anything. I was able to take a nap towards the end of the day having already got everything done beforehand. And my goodness did I need that nap. I was OUT. That’s what going to a Sunday night concert does to you in your 40s.
Had a really great glass of wine tonight. Marchesi Antinori’s Chianti Classico. Wooooo-weee. Fucking delicious. I might even give it five stars. Maybe four. We’ll see. But it’s one of the best I’ve had in a while. Tons of flavor, and what lingers in the mouth is just deliciousness, and that’s what I love best about a good wine right there: that it lingers.
Time for sleep. Hope you had a good day, too.
