A late Friday, as per usual. We watched Ponyo tonight, which I’d seen before when it first came out. I liked it more this second time around, which isn’t to say I didn’t like it the first time around. I did. I just remember feeling…underwhelmed by it? This time, I definitely “got it” more. The animation style. The main characters. The riff on The Little Mermaid. But, mainly that he wanted to make a KIDS’ movie. I think what he ended up making was far more a movie for adult’s inner-child…but his intention was clearly aimed at younger children. It’s drawn in colored pencil, for example.
Coolest part of the movie remains how the town/roads look underwater, with the fish swimming where cars should be.
Tried to get the ground contact lumber today, midday, but Home Depot didn’t have any of their vehicles available. We scheduled them for early tomorrow, which will be better anyway. Way less warm. It was another day over 100 degrees. Hot enough that you just stay inside, you know? Work was slow. I pushed really hard yesterday to make sure it was, and that I’d already got most of my stuff done already. Going tomorrow to get the lumber, taking Liz to the airport, putting it together…and then chilling for the rest of the day. For sure.
