What does my ideal home look like?

“Home.” That’s the word. As I sit here with Joy snuggled up into my shoulder, Liz outside in the living room watching the Love is Blind UK reunion, Coops down by my feet…this is my ideal home. Honestly.

When I first saw the question, I thought: “house.” Made me think of how much I’d love to live in something ‘architectural.’ A house that was designed very carefully and thoughtfully to be a piece of art, or to represent an idea rather than built as fast and cheaply as possible. Made me think, too, of location: how special the redwoods are to me. Or, at the very least, greenery and nature. That exists down here in LA. It’d be very special to live in a place that featured something like that.

But…I think the question is perfectly phrased. It doesn’t ask what my ideal house is. The word is home…and I have that. Right now. I only wish Coco was still here with me. My brother Russell a phone call away. But even so, I have them in my heart, and my home right this very second is perfect. Ideal.

There were thunderstorms today! Wild. 98º weather, with rain and thunderstorms. Truly, LA was Florida for a day. Did a fair amount of work outside, but only in the morning. Couldn’t manage it in the evening. Still way too hot and way too muggy.

Did a bunch of other admin-type stuff, too, like calling my 401K provider to figure out why I’m being charged for these advisory fees when I’m not using the service. Recycled some paint I’ve been meaning to recycle since forever. Some returns. Decent bit of Netflix work. It was a busy day. Busy one tomorrow, too!

Night night.
