Coops is having a hard time getting his head lean just right. I’m watching him down in his bed shifting and shifting, trying to get it perfect, but the challenge is that he’s wearing his cone tonight, and that’s messing up the angle. Poor bubs. The gaba will kick in shortly and he’ll pass out.
He’s got something going on with his eye. Very inflamed. Very squinty. The squint went away for a couple days, but it’s back now, which means he’s goes back to see the doc again tomorrow rather than waiting for two weeks. I wonder what it is. Hopefully something easy to fix, like a scratch or something. But, he’s been a good sport about it. He’s keen for walks, loves his food and treats, so it’s not like anything else is going on. Just his eye bothering him.
I think he got the right position. Big sigh. He’s stayed put for a little while.
I worry about him. Don’t want him to be in pain. He’s been so sweet lately. Needs to follow me around the house, wherever I go. Or Liz. One of us. He’s always been like that—I’ve called him my “shadow” from the very moment we got him—but it’s a little different these days. Just…more fragile, I think. Just a little bit. So, sweet and bittersweet, I guess.
I changed his bed. The other one had the walls too high for the cone. But we have another bed out in the living room with shorter, rounder bumpers, Already, I can tell this other bed is much better. He’s fallen asleep. Helpfully the gaba just knocks him out completely for the night. We’ll see.
I basically cleaned all day. We have a powered mop-slash-vacuum thing that is legit one of the only ways we can safely mop our floors, given that they’re engineered hardwoods (rather than a solid plank of wood, they’re a thin layer of wood on top with glued wood underneath…and glue is susceptible to water), and a full on mop would destroy them. But this sucks the water up as it goes, meaning nothing gets wet beyond the very surface. Anyway…I’ve been deeeeeeeep cleaning the floors. Getting all of the barely visible but nonetheless existent layers of grime we’ve accumulated over the past three years of living here. It is majorly time-consuming, and I knew it would be going into it. It’s more time-consuming than I even thought…but I’m happy with the results I’m getting. The floors are cleaning all the way down to the original wood. They. Look. Spectacular. But, it’s taking me DAYS to do it. Worth it. And it’s also very satisfying to be carving out the time to do it. Will our party guests notice? Fuck no. But that’s not the point. The point is that this is something *I* have wanted to do for like two years, and I’m using this part as an excuse to push hard and finally get it done.
Coops is asleep.
Time for me, too. Night night.
