Today’s fine distinction is Envy vs. Jealousy.
A good one! Envy is wanting something that one does not have, something that someone else has. I envy that person’s car.
Jealousy is the desire for others not to have something (or someone) you possess. “I don’t want you to go out tonight with your friends.” “Stop being jealous!”
So…envy is the desire to possess. Jealousy is the desire to keep, to protect, to deny others from.
The book makes a note, however, that in practical usage, Jealousy is often used in place of envy because those two concepts cross, merge, and get messy quite often. So…if you say “jealous” instead of “envious”…you’re still good 🙂

Man. Busy busy busybusy day. But I got my shit done. And then went to a show! We saw Sub Focus, who’s a pop-drum n bass producer/DJ whose known lately for doing shows with great visuals. And they were. Fucking great. And I learned that these days, all the kids sing along with the little melodies, “doot doot doot doot.” It’s very…wholesome? Fun. It was a lot of fun.
