Tonight’s fine distinction is between “Squash” and “Racquetball.”

Squash is a sport played with two or four players in a completely enclosed space where you hit a small, firm ball with a narrow racket.

Racquetball is a sport played with two or four players in a completely enclosed space where you hit a larger, softer ball with a wider, shorter racket.

The book says squash is far more popular…but I think that might just be on the east coast, because I’ve never heard of anyone playing squash out here in California, but even my small hometown had a place called CalCourts where people played racquetball.

Apparently there are also differences in what is considered to be out of bounds between the two. The ceiling, for example, is out of bounds in squash, but not racquetball. In racquetball, you can pretty much hit the ball anywhere.

A…so-so day. Not super productive. Not a disaster by any means. I did my writing sessions, I just didn’t crush them, you know? It was a fight to focus, which I did for short stretches at a time. Work was the same. I got done what I needed to get done, but nothing extra. Nothing beyond the minimum.

It’s the time change. It’s always fraught at first. But I’ll get into the swing of it. Just gotta keep going, you know?

Night night.
