Any book claiming that something complicated in life is actually very simple, you only need to follow these steps, likely, almost certainly—you know what I’ll go out on a limb and just say “certainly”…is bullsh*t. That’s the theme of this podcast that we listened to today while driving around called “If Books Could Kill.”
I’d heard of the podcast before. Never actually listened to it. But, it’s great. It’s a takedown, essentially, of popular non-fiction books, many of which have become immensely popular, that wilt under scrutiny. Often, that scrutiny doesn’t even have to be that intense. It’s wild what some of these ‘experts’ have sold us as fact. Great podcast. Highly recommend.
I’m wiped. We did A LOT of driving today, but I do feel like I have slightly more of a sense of the island. We even made it to the volcano…where we couldn’t see anything because it was dark and blanketed in fog. lol. It was no big deal, though. We giggled it off and had a good time anyway. We also visited a cool waterfall and did some eating and walking in Hilo.
Oh, and reading outside while it rained this morning was delightful.
