We watched Kong: Skull Island tonight, and guys…I HAD NO IDEA this was in the Godzilla universe from a couple years ago. A movie that I liked quite a bit more than most people. This movie wasn’t…that great…but it WAS fun. I love this “Monarch” corporation business, I love the idea of these creatures coming out from inside the earth. In on all that shit.

The movie suffered a bit from the bores, though, in the middle. Not quite enough fun stuff there, too much just being sweaty in the jungle and John C. Riley back story. But man, still fun. Still enough. I’ll be in the theaters for Kong vs. Godzilla. It’s fun that these two franchises finally got together. I think Kong v Godzilla will be a cinematic first.

Writing today was tough. No focus. And I realized it was because my morning got hijacked and I was never able to fully recover. I *did* get work done…just not enough. Not NEARLY enough. But, we let that go, and we focus on tomorrow. I have goals for tomorrow:

50 pages before breakfast.

Another 50 pages before lunch.

Then another 50 pages before nap time. Yes. Nap time. I take naps. I’m a “creative.” Sue me.

Then we mop up the scraps and write out all my outline cards after walking the pups and before dinner time.

At night, then…I get to relax and play some Skyrim with bear. She was helping me decorate my house today. Skeevers got into my basement, and we had to fix things up down there. It was intense.

I had a solid, solid idea today about streamlining a plot down and solving some logical and “fun” issues with a certain storyline. It puts two characters together that seem to WORK together…something I didn’t realize at the time I was writing the book…and I hope it works. It might not actually trim down anything length-wise…but it SHOULD solve pace and avoiding boring issues. We’ll see. So, the ideas are HAPPENING. I just need to make sure I leave enough time to actually execute them. Blech.

Wish me luck.
