So, tonight, the Ho and I had a little dinner and a movie (at home, on our couch) date night. We went out to have BCD because both of us had been craving Soon Tofu, and then we came home and we watched What We Do In The Shadows, which was on our list ever since we saw Thor: Ragnarok last summer. So. Good. I’ll do my write-up of it tomorrow, hopefully 😛
Twas a wonderful night, and a wonderful day overall, indeed.
I got to spend most of the day today hanging out at Kathy Bates’ house. AND her pool. Yes! In February. She’d heated it up for the get-together, which was really more of a “wake” for Disjointed, which again, if you haven’t heard the news, was officially cancelled last week by Netflix. Sigh. I believe this get-together at Ms. Bate’s house had been planned well in advance of that announcement, but man, the turnout was amazing.
Truly, what an amazing group of people. This was an exceptional cast of good, down-to-earth, easy to get along with people. Kathy included. We whiled away the hours eating delicious food, swimming in her heated pool, playing corn hole, checking out paintings in her studio area, and catching up with each other like we used to every week on the Warner lot.
I’m going to miss going to those tapings. I’m going to miss seeing all these people every week, I’m going to miss sitting in Liz’s dressing room and watching them film together, and I’m already missing the fact that I won’t get to see more of the show.
But, we move on. This is the nature of Hollywood. Every show gets cancelled eventually, some sooner than others, some much sooner than others…Disjointed got 20 episodes. I’m grateful for that. It’s not nothing, and because it’s on Netflix, and people will basically watch that show forever, still discover it years from now. That’s something that doesn’t really exist with “Network” shows, except if they get picked up on, you know, Netflix. It’s pretty cool.
Anyway…it was a wonderful time, I love that entire group of cast and crew, and I’m grateful I ever got to meet any of them.
Tomorrow, I’m back to work.
