I might have used tonight’s blog title a couple weeks ago…I know I was listening to a podcast or NPR or something like that and they mentioned Portabello Road, which is (I think) still an open-air marketplace in London. Well…I will always know it from Bedknobs and Broomsticks, which is one of my all-time favorite movies. Ever since hearing it, wherever that was, I’ve had that movie in my mind; and, so, I put it on today while I was working!

I love that about my job…that I am able to throw things like that on the screen and work away for hours at a time. It’s wonderful. A game-changer, in fact. If I hadn’t discovered that I could get away with doing it a couple years ago, I sincerely doubt that I would have stuck with this editing gig for as long as I have.

Work was good today, not great. I didn’t schedule everything out hour-by-hour, but I nonetheless got everything done in a timely manner. It fell apart slightly towards the end of the day given that I had to walk the dogs, and then I randomly kinda had a tummy ache with a cold sweat…that was weird…but it passed within like 10 minutes or so…felt longer. A by all that, I was 1 1/2 hours behind going into the final stretch of the day, which is one of those “stumbling blocks” I’ve realized I have…but not today. I sucked it up and finished everything. An extra minute, actually…and these lessons weren’t a walk in the park. One of them in particular was all diagrams and charts, none of which the instructor had provided for me. I made them all from stratch, which is suuuuper time consuming…but whatever. It’s in the job description 😛

I did HALF of my writing hour, so I have to make that up tomorrow…and those remaining couple minutes I owe from yesterday’s falling-short…but I’ll get both done. I have total confidence now…always having these two days off in a row is really, REALLY nice. It makes a huge difference with my psyche. It’s been a good system so far. I thought I was going to be super tired these past two work days, but I wasn’t! Not at all. A pleasant surprise.

I’m feelin more optimistic right now that I can wring this Icarus pilot into the proper number of pages. 55 is the goal, but apparently 63 is still acceptable. I can *definitely* find a way to fit it somewhere in that range. Optimism is good. It’s much better than defeat 😛

So, tomorrow: clean-up editing, oh and some actual house clean-up, an hour an a half of writing/editing down Icarus…and then I don’t know what. Maybe I read tomorrow. Or go for a hike. No, scratch that last idea. It’s supposed to be 100 goddamn degrees outside. No thank you!

Coco and the Ho are playing on the bed right now. Coco’s digging into the top blanket we have, and Liz is covering her face so that she tries to chew on her fingers. Then Cooper “fomo” Ho-Heinichen came up to see what was going on. He’s been sleeping on the floor lately. Coco and Liz are still going at it. “Who’s that Coco that’s eating my hand? Where’s the Coco? Where’s the Coco? There’s the Coco! There’s the Coco. Don’t eat my hand, you just ate my hand!”

You’re welcome for the play-by-play.
