It finally feels like fall to me. A bit later than usual…or maybe not.

We did Mickey’s Halloween Party tonight down at Disneyland, something we’ve done now for the past four years running with our friend Ali, and this year especially it seemed to mark the transition into the holiday seasons. It was a good feeling…walking around Disneyland, hearing all the excited kids around and adults marvelling at the decorations…getting my hoodie out when we were finally on our way because it finally actually got cold enough to wear it for a few minutes.

That’s something that’s definitely of annoyance this year. I haven’t talked much about the weather on this here bloggity-blog, but it’s been hot. Way too damn hot. And sticky. It wasn’t so hot today, but holy hell was it humid. We were all sweating most of the time we were down there, even after the sun went down. Not Cool. Literally.

That’s part of the reason why it hasn’t felt like fall, but it’s also just because I’ve been so preoccupied with other things that just kind of make the calendar turn much faster than I’ve wanted it to. Most of that is setting certain benchmarks for myself writing-wise and not meeting them. Putting my editing work first. Well…that’s starting to change here in my old noggin. Finally. Took a while, but here I am.

We went pretty slow and soft at the Disneyland experience this year. We only went on three rides; Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, and then the Haunted Mansion which is of course all done up in Nighmare Before Christmas style. Then we went and got food, and it was perfect timing to watch the new version of the electrical parade and then the fireworks show. Poof, just like that, we’d been there for four hours and we were ready to come home. The park is only open for another half hour after that, to be honest. But, it still felt like leaving early, which suited the three of us quite nicely. We’ve been there, done that now, you know? We go now more because we love the tradition, not because there are so many things we need to do while we’re there. Just going and being there is enough.

Tomorrow is a work day. I’m afraid I’ll be tired…but we’ll see how it all shakes out. I can still take a quick nap before my day really gets going. Those have been extremely effective lately, actually. And I did take a nap today before we left for the D-Land.

Oh! And we had the craziest time finding a place to park today. We seriously circled the level we were on four times before we finally took a spot. And not because there were no spots…no, because we thought we could find one closer than the spots we were passing further away. Usually there are attendants who tell you where to park…not this time, and it was a self-made disaster.

Oh, and in the morning I took Coops to see the vet who game him some meds to calm his poor tum-tum down. He also needs to start eating straight rice with his food. It will help his gut make healthier, harder poops. That’s what we want. But, as I’d hoped, nothing more serious beyond that. He doesn’t even have a temperature.

That’s it for tonight. See you kids tomorrow.

Ps- the photo: I was hipster Peter Pan, Liz was hipster Snow White, and Ali was hipster Ariel. Too cool for school, all of us.
