I was worn down to the nubbins today, y’all. I didn’t have it in me. So, I rested.
Hopefully that’s all it takes. I really want to finish this year like a boss. I *will* finish this year like a boss, it’d just be nice to feel more focused and energetic 😛
What I will say is this: I crushed it on the Trek short today. It’s half done. I think I can have it all done, first draft anyway, by middle of next week. That’s awesome! It’s off and running now. Picard is in peril. Things are paying off. The adventure is afoot!
The more and more I write, the more that last tidbit comes to the forefront of my mind: the adventure. That’s what I love writing most. Adventure! It’s just so much fun. It really is about the journey and not the destination, you know? The fun stuff happens on the road to the destination.
I suppose that could be construed as an outlook on life, and that’s probably a fair assessment of where I try to keep my headspace…but I do mean that quite literally with my writing. My favorite moments of any adventure story lie with all the cool shit that they find, or the hijinx and danger along the way. The climax at the end is just the pay-off, the wrapping up that every story needs to some degree…the cool stuff is what happened along the way. For me, at least. That’s what I’ve always enjoyed about stories, and that’s what I realize I try to infuse in my own.
So, that was a win. I’m in bed a full hour early right now writing this, and sleepy times await me. I’m hoping it does the trick. Tomorrow is a full work day regardless of how I’m feeling. It will be a lot better if I can do it feeling perky and focused.
I also chose a show to watch while I work: The X-Files. It’s in HD on Amazon Prime. “But, don’t you work for Netflix?” you might very reasonably ask? I do, yes, and I’d totally watch this on Netflix…but I can’t get netflix work done and stream from the service at the same time for some reason. It gives me an error message even though I’m using separate browsers. So, Amazon it is. Plus, the HD looks dooooope.
Das all I got tonight. I decorated the Christmas Tree…napped, hung out with the Ho. Oh, played a little bit of Skyrim. It was a nice day. I kinda wish I had one more of these days before going back to work, but it’s go-time. I don’t have that luxury. There are goals to be met, y’all!
