Downright steampunk art tonight from Peter Andrew Jones.

I had a very, very solid work day today. The first in a week, plus or minus a day. It was a relief. I did stumble for about a half hour in the middle of the afternoon, but nothing major. A half hour here and a half hour there are not the end of the world.

That said, it was a 90% day. One of those days where you put in pretty much the effort you need to, the hours have been worked, but you fall *just* shy of each of your goals. Yeah, I had that kind of day today. Couldn’t grab that last 10%.

But, man, I’ll take it. Working from home…it has it’s ups and downs.

Writing was solid. I talked about it last night, but the pages I banged out that I was so down on, so sure they’d be total rewrites, they turn out to be much more usable than I thought. Reworking some stuff, sure, and I think a bit of cutting too, but much better than I was afraid. It does set me back some; I thought I’d be writing today or tomorrow that I’d finished my first draft. Alas, that is not the case. I do think, however, I’ll be able to boast that within the next couple days.

Two hours of writing didn’t happen today, but I did put in one solid hour. Real work was done on all fronts. I find that if I get that writing hour done first thing, beginning of the day, I’m off to the races after that with my editing work. It’s a tried and true formula now.

So, yeah…obviously today was a work day 😛 That’s all I really have to talk about. Oh, except for The X-Files. I’m about half way now into season 1. Some real clunkers on the monster-of-the-week front, but already some really well written ones that still hold up. I can always tell, too, when Chris Carter is writing a whole episode by himself because he *nails* Mulder as a charming conspiracy theorist.

If I recall correctly, the show really starts to pick up second season into seasons three and four. We’ll see how it all plays out, though. Digging it so far 😛 Although, I will say this – it’s heavier fare than Trek. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still from the 90s – it’s so unbelievably tame compared to the shows we watch today…but it’s a different feel than what I was watching before, no doubt.

I think that’s about all I got for you tonight. Played a little Skyrim, about an hour after finishing work…gonna read some Phillip K. Dick…call it a night. Maybe more introspection and less journaling tomorrow, I don’t know. Craziness swirling in this country of mine at the moment, but I just don’t feel like talking about it tonight.

G’Night.
