And it’s under 10,000 words!
The first draft is done, guys. I’m not entirely sure if the last couple scenes are working as well as I want them to, but hey, they’re WRITTEN. Now I get to READ it and see what’s actually working and what isn’t you know? Yeah..you know.
I’m talking about my Trek short story, if you didn’t know. It’s written! Feels so good. So, so good.
Today was another busy one. It started off with three solid hours of doing AC maintenance that we do here every 6 months. Then it was narrating and other odd jobs here and there.
I did get to take a nap for a good half hour, so that was nice. Made a big difference in terms of how I felt in the afternoon and the evening, which was nice and awake. Then I walked the pups and finished up my narrations for the day. Played Skyrim early in the evening instead of late at the end, and then watched a bit of his documentary from last year called Dark Star which is about H. R. Giger right before he passed.
Then, I wanted to do my writing hour, which had been all messed up from doing apartment building work in the morning. But, I did it, and obviously it was fine because I just powered through and finished my goddamn first draft. Crazy.
I was hoping to feel a little more elated with having it finished, but I’m not confident right now that my last couple scenes really nailed what I was going for. We shall see, y’all, we shall see. It still a major accomplishment. I actually finished it.
I’d also like to acknowledge, and this is so stupid but I don’t think I’ve actually talked about it on the blog yet…but it’s so much fun to play Skyrim with the Ho doing crafty things on the table behind me, eating Flamin Hot Cheetos and sipping on a Coke Slurpee after a days’ work finished. I really love it so much. Especially when Liz is able to hang out too and do her own thing. She has fun watching me play, I have fun laughing at her snarky comments. I just really like it.
