Artwork tonight, which is badass, is from Dan McPharlin

So much of everything in life is rhythm, right? Writing definitely falls into that category. I haven’t been in much of a rhythm since I finished the rough draft of my novel at the very end of 2014. That’s a full year of in-and-outsies on the “rhythm” front. Well…I’m starting to feel it again.

I wrote for two sessions today, and full ones, too. An hour and a half in the AM and another hour in the PM. The plan is get that happening every single day. I could crank out 6 pages a day using that formula. That would mean finishing a novel in 2 months instead of 3…which is sounding more and more like the way to go considering the amount of time it takes to RE-write a novel.

All of this is happening for the first time, you see, all this writing stuff. I have no blueprint yet, no formula or routine that I know “works.” I have to kind of do some research, take some advice, and then figure it all out on my own. Which is fine. I’m in a good place with this whole re-writing business ever since…about a week ago when I pledged to start making my writing a priority each day instead of something that gets sacrificed in the name of other work.

I did some editing work today, almost all of it. I have an hour left for tomorrow, which is cake, and then I’m all caught up. Two and a half week’s worth of assignments in two weeks. It’s a long story, but it’ll all be done.

I also got to watch some football. It’s wildcard weekend, which is always fun. More fun when the Niners are participating…though also more stressful…but this is the second year they’ll be missing out. The Bengals/Steelers game was craaaaazy. Cincinnati really fucked up. A fumble after a super late interception that had them two plays or so away from taking a knee to run out the clock, and then two back-to-back ridiculously stupid and uncalled-for penalties (including someone shoving a ref) that put the Steelers in field goal range and that was that. Steelers won the game.

I also played some Skyrim. I’m doing a side quest that’s SUPER time-consuming. I’m gathering these special stones from all over the map, which is fun because I get to explore places I haven’t been yet. I’m starting to get ready to play a new game, though, I think. We’ll see. I’ve just really started being all good and levelled up, so it would be a shame to not enjoy some of that superiority for a little while, you know? Of course you do.

That’s all for tonight. Tomorrow is more football, more rest, and more writing. Peace!
