So, I have to admit…I’m realizing I’ve been a bit on the “lazy” side of things so far in 2016. No, hear me out…I know I can do better. I’ve focused too much on extracurriculars like naps or Skyrim or just hanging out on the computer. I know I can do better.
Part of it is still getting used to doing Netflix work. There is no doubt of that. But mostly, it’s really just laziness 😛 I haven’t amped myself up, focused myself. Perhaps it’s because I haven’t set concrete goals for myself yet, and perhaps I should do that. But, work is taking me longer to complete than it should. Today is a perfect example of that. What I’d scheduled to take myself four hours took seven. That’s just unnecessary, you know? Taking it easy has its time and its place. Work is not one of those times.
So, I know it’s going to be a struggle tomorrow, but…I’ve got to start somewhere. Tomorrow, the road back to being more energized and focused begins. We’re not talking a major shift here, nothing drastic…it’s just a mindset. Keeping my eye on the prize. Really just feeling more *motivated*. That’s all, really.
I had a baller streak going with the writing…at least it seemed like I did…but today was the second day in a row that I didn’t do it. And today, I don’t have any excuse except for laziness. I played Skyrim for an hour and a half tonight instead of using those last hours of my day to get the writing done that I’d scheduled, but pushed aside to get other work done. Not this year, you know? This year is about getting WRITING done…less so anything else.
I’ve written this blog now for the past two-plus years…I know that this always seems to happen in January. I’m not sweating the laziness or feeling too guilty about it. Already, this year I’ve finished and submitted a short story for a contest. That’s better than either of the past two January’s. I want to continue that. And you know what? I will. I know I will. I have faith now…
But to help all that in the day-to-day AND the macro…I’m gonna set myself some goals.
Today was a work day, if you hadn’t guessed already. I got my Wrath of Khan double vinyl from Mondo today, and holy bejesus is it dope. The artwork is amaaaaazing, and the “nebula” vinyl is stunning in person. Totally 70s 😛 They sound great, too. Very happy with the purchase.
The Ho had a good audition today, that was also awesome. And the pups were just snuggle bugs. Coops especially lately. He’s been very sweet and very snuggly. Right now he’s having a puppy dream. Protecting the castle with his big scary bark. Spent all day today with the pups. Love dems.
Aight…it’s bed time. Tomorrow, writing and some work. Not a full day, I don’t think, but we shall see. Hopefully can catch some narrations, too, which I was able to do today. Coco just came up closer and curled up. Ugghhh. So freaking cute.
