Has to be a quick one tonight because it’s already 1 in the AM.

I worked today. Was supposed to get 2 1/2 lessons done and only got 2 done…but still, that was an upgrade from the couple days prior. Watched a decent amount of X-Files too while I worked. I was talking with the Ho about it, and then Josh later while we were hanging out…but it’s interesting to see a certain change in dynamic in the show. When it first started, the “mythology” episodes were easily the strongest and the best, the most fun to watch. Now in these later seasons, it’s not quite yet that the mythology episodes are *bad* per se, it’s just clear that they peaked around season 3. Now, it’s the standalones that are starting to peak…especially where I am right now in season 5. Holy moly…so much fun.

Then, it was off over the hill to watch some more TOS with Josh for Two Guys One Trek. I realize I look forward to that so much each week…for reals. It’s So. Much. Fun. It’s also this feeling of accomplishment. Neither of us have any idea if anyone out there will find the thing entertaining. I mean, we hope at least some do…but really, we do it for ourselves. It’s because WE have so much fun making it, talking bullshit, making up characters, talking about themes and execution, just be US. There’s this natural chemistry that Josh and I have that’s very enjoyable and very natural. We just enjoy hanging out together, and we’re stoked to have found a way to hang out together AND record it for entertainment purposes at the same time.

Anywho, that’s all for tonight, except for a brief worldly perspective which is to say that I listened to a podcast today that was about a guy who tried to make his own toaster from scratch…and I mean FROM SCRATCH. Like…he mined his own iron and smelted it down to make his own components, etc. And it was a pretty unequivocal disaster; it caught fire the second he turned it on. In the context of the podcast, not so much the original experiment, it served to illustrate the fact that there are so many things in our lives that we take for granted, like a toaster…but the fact is that no one single person in the entire world actually knows how to make that thing all on their own. It takes an entire market to produce that kind of good…miners, refineries, electronics parts manufacturers, plastic people, assembly factories, etc. It quite literally takes all those people who specialize in one particular skill to come together to make a toaster. One person can’t do it on their own.

I found that to be quite humbling and respectful of the power of networks, which is really what an economy or a market is.

Anywho, good night! More tomorrow šŸ™‚
