Today is Coco’s 2nd Gotcha Day. If you’re not familiar with the term, it’s something that the dog-owning…and maybe cat, too (?)…community has come up with for pets who are rescued. We use it in lieu of their birthdays, since we don’t know what their birthdays are. I *wish* I’d known Coco as a puppy. I bet she was very cute. And sweet. And really liked wiggling on her back a lot and chewing on things. Back before her eyes went bad…

Coco’s had rough patches in her life, guys. She’s been through some shit. Homeless. On the streets. A mom multiple times. But she just keeps rolling; Coco the tank.

I worked today, and did some resting, too. Need to just keep my head down and plow through, you know? Keep going. Coming into the last quarter here and I have goals. GOALS.

I wrote today! For a full hour. It was glorious. And painful. All at the same time. If you don’t use something, you lose it…and I was ruuuusty. I got all of two paragraphs written in an hour. And that wasn’t me dilly-dallying either. Sigh. I’ll just have to keep at it, you know? Keep plugging away. I’ll get back up to speed if I just keep at it.

I like what I’m writing, at least. And what I’ve written. This rewrite is a big step forward. I also have a lead now on where to find myself a professional editor. That’s *super* friggin exciting. And because of my other jobs, I can actually *afford* an editor (I think). I’m so so SO looking forward to that. For reals. Even if they tear it apart and want me to rewrite five things on every single page. If I choose my editor correctly, and they’re really WHO they say they are…it’ll be REAL feedback from a pro. That’s absolutely positively invaluable and irreplaceable. It’ll let me know where I am, and where I need to go. Can’t wait.

Well…I’ll have to wait. I’m not done with this rewrite yet. But I will be soon, guys. Soon. Not soon enough, but soon nonetheless.

That’s about all I got for tonight. I started watching The Last Starfighter, but I started it too late in the evening to finish it and go to bed on time, so I stopped right before the beginning of Act 3. It’s sooo much fun. And so hokey and simple. They really, really don’t make movies like that any more. I love it. The graphics remind me so much of Tron. Tron is probably in my top 20 favorite movies of all time. I don’t know why I don’t own it…I should. Fucking LOVE that movie. We’d “rent” it from the library all the time when we were kids.

Okay…time for the sleeps. More work tomorrow, some football watching, some reading (hopefully to help a friend with some script notes/ideas), probably some laundry…you know, a typical Ira-day 🙂

Night!
