Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

It’s a great holiday…the idea of coming together with family and friends, celebrating the end of the harvest months and feasting together. The story that we tell of Thanksgiving is one of gratitude and friendship and respect. Now, whether that’s rooted in historical truth is doubtful, but I do think there’s something to be said for the story we tell, and the moral/values that story upholds. I wish we as a society upheld those morals and values more consistently.

The group was six this year – the Ho and I, Arg and Kristen, Ali and Matt Edwards. The food was bountiful, as it always is, and we were all remarking this year about how all the cooking and cleaning really seemed to work like clockwork this year. It was so easy.

Ali was the first to show up since, as per usual; she had three (?) dishes to cook. Then Arg and Kristen showed up and the festivities kicked up a notch with the extra bodies. Arg and I went on a drink run for Starbucks, which was an adventure in and of itself since apparently ALL THE STARBUCKS WERE CLOSED. We found one eventually.

Then it was time to eat, and Matt showed up JUST in time to sit down with us all. We ate, we talked, we drank Apple Cider. Then Arg and Kristen had to run out to spend some family time, and so we didn’t jump right into watching Love Actually. We went on a walk with the dogs and killed some time for them to return.

If you’re not familiar, we watch Love Actually after the end of every orphan’s Thanksgiving feast. It kicks off the holiday season and gets us in the mood for Christmas. Walkies were fun, and then Arg and Kristen returned, and so we watched the movie and played bingo based on things that happen in the movie. Kristen got a bingo first, so she won a $20 Amazon gift card. Matt was second place and got a $10 card. I know! Real prizes this year. We fancy.

And then we all just hung out for a while and talked. Matt and Arg wanted to see the games that I’d downloaded for the PS4, so I showed them. Then we talked games for a while, then apple stuff for a while — the ladies were at the table behind us coloring. It was just really nice and chill. Good company. Happy bellies.

Tomorrow…I am taking a fucking day off. I’m wiped. But, we are going to go see Moana. Liz needs to see it for the YOMYOMF blog. The group of us might actually be the same as today…not sure if Arg and K-Bear are coming or not…I hope they are.

Anywho. Sleep times. I’m very, very thankful today to have the wonderful friends that I do, my wonderful family, my amazing wife, and my amazing dogs.

Good night.
