It always happens around this time of year – the Ho and I drop some cash on things either for ourselves, or other people. This time, it was us – we don’t have any real cold-weather clothing. Almost nothing. Certainly not enough to brave what’s happening up in Portland right now…you know, like, real winter weather? Yeah, that shit. Not prepared.

We found some good stuff. Some shoes for both of us that won’t get wet instantaneously. Some thermals and a puffy jacket for me from Uniqlo. And some wool socks for the both of us. Hopefully all of that is enough to keep us warm up there. I mean, not that it’s actually supposed to be THAT cold up there. It isn’t. But, cold enough for us souther california dwellers.

There was a time just a couple years ago that a shopping trip such as the one we just took tonight would have given me a mild heart attack and probably drained or overdrafted my bank account. Thankfully, due to both the Ho’s hard work and my own, we are not in that situation any longer. I mention it because those days of being so close to total financial meltdown are still so fresh in my mind. I remember them so clearly. And I am so, so grateful to have had the luck, opportunity, and the partner to turn that all around.

We watched Rogue One today, first thing (well, almost – we also went to the bank to some banky stuff before that)…and it was SO GOOD. Guys, so good. Better that The Force Awakens without a doubt…which for some of us isn’t saying all that much, I know…but it’s still true. Granted, it isn’t a *perfect* movie – there was stuff here and there that didn’t work – but it was still a damn fine movie. I say three and a half stars out of four. I really, really enjoyed it. Go see it. One of the best movies of 2016, certainly in the crop of blockbusters.

Tomorrow it’s editing times with Josh, and then it will be gathering up stuff for our trip to portland. I’d also love to clean a bit before we leave, if I have time. Having a clean house to come home to would be so, so nice, wouldn’t it? Dreams. A man can dream.

All I have tonight. Going to read a bit, then sleeeeeep. Oh…that’s another thing I’d like to finish before the year ends: finish reading The Handmaid’s Tale. It’s a good book. Heavy, and prose-y…but good.

Night!
