So, for Christmas this year for the King kids, we told each of them that we’d take them out shopping individually, just them and Liz and I, to a store of their choice and then get lunch with them afterwards. Today was Mira’s day. She chose Toys R Us, she got herself three Disney Princess dolls and a fairy doll (named Periwinkle I think), and then she chose Soup Plantation for lunch, where she proceeded to eat Liz and I under the table.

Liz’s auntie used to do this tradition with her when she was a kid, take her out shopping just the two of them and then get food afterwards. She thought it might be fun to do with the King kids. Apparently, Belle was so excited last night to go and do it with us today that she had a hard time falling asleep. She was so funny, she wanted to walk around the entire store, looking at everything. Very thorough. And she was very thoughtful and quiet. She really wanted to make sure she made the most of her money (which was only $40. I mean, don’t get me wrong, that’s a shit-ton for a kid).

In the end, I was impressed. She was very decisive. And she played by the rules.

We listened to the Moana soundtrack on the way home and sang along.

My neck has been stiff since yesterday morning, exacerbated I think by the march yesterday. I tried to take it easy today, and it worked, it’s feeling much better. I also don’t think it’s any coincidence that it flared up after having the talk with my up-and-up at the Flix on Friday about options…where I’m headed.

Tonight, I sent emails out to several writer acquaintances of mine, writers I know made the transition from working full-time to writing full-time. Although, that characterization isn’t *quite* applicable to me, since I will still be working full-time as a contractor…I just wouldn’t be accepting a full-time job with the ‘Flix. We’ll see what they say. I’ll value their insight very, very much. They’ve been there. I haven’t.

I’m taking tomorrow off, I think. We’ll see if that happens. There’s reading I have to do. And resting. I want to make sure my neck recovers completely, and giving myself a full day off is probably a good idea in that regard since a tight neck is a sign of pent-up stress for me.

Nothing much to say politically tonight. I engaged with a couple Facebook friends today who are relatively conservative. It seems that the reaction to the march on Saturday, for now, has been to largely ignore it and focus on other talking points – namely attacking the press for covering such events and comparing them to Trump’s support/attendance at the inauguration. We’ll see if that stays true on Monday.

Good night!
