Coco is going HAM right now next to me with her Whimzee. I just had to move her because she was so pressed up against me.
So, we saw Logan tonight. It’s really good. It’s also a brutal, bleak movie…one of the darkest I’ve seen in a long time, which makes its violence really land. It’s far more akin to a movie like The Revenant than it is any other comic book movie I can think of. It’s nothing like Deadpool.
Hugh Jackman is phenomenal. Patrick Stewart is sensational. So is the girl. So is Stephen Merchant. It’s an excellently done movie. It wasn’t quite as emotionally engrossing for me as I’d anticipated because it was so brutal and bleak…but it did grab me on its level of execution. It had a tone, a world of stories of a certain type, and it executed that world with precision and inspiration. It clearly had a director with a vision, and he knew how to deliver it.
I guess I am bummed a bit that it didn’t engage me emotionally quite as much as I’d wanted or anticipated…but that’s just because this particular type of story doesn’t pull those particular strings for me – they pull other ones.
It’s an excellent movie. A landmark movie for the genre, I think. So…well done.
I had a great day of work today. Very focused. Very productive. I felt like my old self again, thank you baby jesus. And just in time to earn a couple days off. I’m still going to write over the weekend, but whenever I feel tired, I’m going to take a nap. And whenever I feel like playing video games, I’m going to play video games. And whenever I just want to read, I’m going to read.
It’s going to be GLORIOUS.
