The sheets for the bed are in the dryer right now. I know, that is QUITE the hook sentence to get you into this blog entry tonight. Right up there with classics like “my dogs are cute” and “I’m tired.” The first of which is true tonight, the second is not. I feel quite rested, thank you.
Had a wonderful day off today. I did end up playing about an hour of Fallout this morning after breakfast, I cleaned up the house, I did the laundry (almost all of it, hence the sheets still drying), and I hung out with Medwards and his sister to wrap things up. We’d been trying to hang out together for a couple weeks and it hadn’t worked out, so that was quite enjoyable 🙂 We watched the Warriors game against the Grizzlies, a team that’s had our number this year, surprisingly…and we beat them! Quite handily, too.
Oh! And I listened to a bunch of podcasts today too. I’m almost all caught up…on all of them. Which is kind of incredible, because I listen to, like, 12 different podcasts. Maybe even more. It’s kind of out of control.
Got the email today from my cover designer that he’ll be sending me the contract and advance payment details, so that was exciting. This coming week, it’s time to commit to an editor for my manuscript, so that’s happening. I also realized that I really, really need to write a “reader magnet” set in the starstuff universe that I can use to grow a mailing list for the starstuff launch. It’s usually a short story set in the same universe as the full novel, or a novella. Something to pique interest. Problem is…I have no idea what to write. Gonna have to figure that out, I think…and soon.
The advantage of having a mailing list before launching a book, obviously, is that you can get the book sales started immediately on that very first day. Use those first couple days to get the algorithms on Amazon going…to be honest, I’ll probably fail at it all miserably because it’ll be my first time. But, that’s the point, guys! I can’t learn from my mistakes and successes until I go out and make them! So, no time like the present.
