I listened to an interview today that reminded me of something when it comes to any project, really…get it out there.

That is hands-down 100,000% the #1 tip-top #0 even priority; get it out there. Granted, the person I was listening to had (almost) instant success, and not everyone experiences that…but BUT…I’d wager that the biggest key to that almost-instant success was that this author just wrote and published and wrote and published and wrote and published. He was on a two-week release schedule virtually right out the gate, and he found an audience of readers…I’m betting in large part to his consistency.

I’ve read this author. His prose is clunky. He makes so, so many amateurish mistakes in his books. His characters are pretty cookie-cutter. A lot of the time it reads more like fan fiction than best-selling genre pulp…but his stories are fun, his characters do and say fun things, and he puts out a book every single month. His books are aimed at a younger audience that obviously don’t care about what you’re supposed to do as a writer, they just want stories – they just want to know what happens next.

It just reminds me of how hungry people really are for entertainment. Thank you lord. Praise be to baby g. Ravenous is the appetite for entertainment that checks off the boxes for an audience. Which…again…is why it’s so important to get it out there.

So…I will. I will learn from that shit. Hopefully that IS the lesson to be learned from this particular author and I’m not misreading it 😛 That’s always possible. But, I don’t think so. I think this is the right lesson. Make something as good as I can possibly make it…but my number one priority must be to get it out there.

Today was friggin exhausting. I did some good work, got majorly hijacked by some building nonsense (including a falling window because of the wind) and that’s about it. That’s all today was.

Editing is going well for the podcast – I was really afraid that some of these were so long it was going to be impossible to get them down to a reasonable length…but I shouldn’t have doubted myself or the magic of the Josh and Ira. The episodes are trimming down quite nice and smooth, and these two seasons are lit. LIT I say.

That’s all for this eve. I hope you had a productive week and a good Friday too 😉
