Back on the wagon, folks. I got writing done today! I had an hour in Eureka, sitting out by the harbor while the Ho got a massage, and I wrote almost 1,200 words.

That.

Is.

Dope.

Let’s see if I can repeat that shit tomorrow. My goal for this week of travel and vacation was only 1,000 words per day. And you know what? I needed a few days off. I really did. I was burned out. Big time. These past couple days of spending time with my family and walking around in beautiful places, doing things other than working and worrying about work…I needed them. I feel so much better, so much more relaxed, and so much more at peace with who I am.

I realize that those stresses will come back as soon as I start working again, but that doesn’t bother me. These respites hold back the tide of negativity and remind me that I love what I do, I really love it, and they remind me to have fun while I work.

We had a family and friends dinner tonight over at the B’s house. It was over at the B’s because the Sheriff and the Police and the Fish & Game were over at the neighbors with guns drawn and drug dogs out and about. They were apparently looking for a fugitive. They had the whole area cordoned off, and my mom wasn’t feeling too safe, and so we just had it over at the B’s next door in the other direction. The B’s were going to have been coming to dinner anyway, so it all worked out.

Twas a good time. I got to see some people that I haven’t seen for a couple decades, at least. That was really great. And the food was good, and the conversation was too.

Anyway, it’s time for bed. Oh! Liz and I also had a friggin CLUTCH snack in Eureka – we shared a bagel from Los Bagels that made my face melt, and then we had some ice cream from some new Gelato/Sorbet place (Bon Beniere was closed!) called Living the Dream. It was a really, REALLY nice side trip.

Time for the sleeps. Coco is snoring into my ankle. Tomorrow, we drive down to Sonoma, where there is a pool waiting for us. YAS!
